Katie Ledecky
Genevieve Kathleen Ledecky (born 17 March 1997) is an American swimmer , an Olympic gold medalist and world record holder. Ledecky was born in Washington, DC, the daughter of David and Mary Gen Ledecky. Ledecky father David came to the United States in 1947 fromCzechoslovakia. Her mother swam for the University of New Mexico. Ledecky resides in Bethesda, Maryland, where he attends Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart. Ledecky started swimming at the age of six due to the influence of his older brother, Michael. During the summer of 2012, he was trained in the Nation's Capital Swim Club (formerly Wave Burke Swim Club) with coach Yuri Suguiyama. He continued to train with the Country Capital Swim Club with coach Bruce Gemmell. During the summers, he swims for Swim Team Palisades in Bethesda.
In his international debut in the 2012 Summer Olympics as a 15-year-old won gold in the 800 meters Ledecky freestyle, in what was the second fastest performance of all time.
